free at last
Yesterday I turned in my first honest-to-goodness research paper in Portuguese. I wrote about a public display of sculpture by one of Salvador's foremost artists, Mario Cravo. My professor told me he "couldn't wait" to read my paper, which makes me happy but also makes me feel sort of sick to my stomach. I'm hoping he'll have a little pity on any grammatical errors I'm certain to have committed. I also took a test in the same class, and after an eternity of having worked day and night to reach this moment, I handed in the paper and took the test and it was all over. Now, save for a few loose ends and errands, I'm pretty much done for the semester. The workload never even approached that of McGill but it seemed like even the smallest paper turned into a challenge to my Portuguese and a test of my patience, so I am still relieved to be done.
And now? What in the world will I do to fill in the days between now and the end of February? The 'rents are coming in late December but that is still just a week out of many. I have tentative plans to go down the coast and into Argentina in the new year - certainly that will be good fodder for this blog. Oh, and speaking of blogs, I am going to try to write more now that I realize I have more readers than just my mom. I mean, moms are important but numbers are numbers.
Anyway, stay tuned for my Summer Vacation Chronicles! Content to be revealed!
