I know I am on my way to becoming Brazilified when I put on earrings to match my bathing suit. That is a definite change from six months ago, don't you think?

Our group has officially splintered - today and tomorrow lots and lots of kids will either be going home to the States or on to São Paulo to study. I am incredibly sad. Today several of us went to the beach one last time. At first it was raining but then all of a sudden the sky cleared up and we had sun for several hours. I am hoping to go to São Paulo at some point this semester, but who's to say if I'll ever see the kids who are going back to the USA again. I guess that is one of the biggest drawbacks from an experience as intense as an international exchange - you have to say goodbye. And this is only after five weeks!

But life goes on. This weekend, my Portuguese teacher Claudia, my friend Steve and I are going on a three day trip to a beach called Morro de São Paulo, mostly to avoid the feelings of loss that would haunt us if we stuck around here. Plus, school starts soon, and it's one of our last opportunities to take a trip before the work sets in.

Hope things are peachy at home. Write me!
